Mac OS 8 Set-Up Instructions for Online Services

• With your Macintosh on, open your harddrive folder
• Open the Assistants folder
• Open the Internet Setup Assistant
• Click on the Update button
• Do one of the following:
  • If this is your first time through this setup assistant, click on the Add button, and type in a name (such as dialoregon.net)
  • If you are modifying the settings for your connection, click on the Modify button and choose the connection name you use for dialoregon.net
• Choose the option to connect with a modem
• Choose tone dialing (assuming that is what your phone system is setup for)
• Type in the local Online Services phone number for your area
• Type in your Login name (for example, jdoe)
• Type in your password
• Answer "no" when asked if your service provider assigned you an IP address
• Type the following numbers for the DNS addresses:
  • 159.121.170.5
  • 159.121.107.80
• Type in the following for the domain: dialoregon.net
• Type in your email address when prompted (such as "jdoe@dialoregon.net")
• Type in the following when asked for the SMTP (email) host: smtp.dialoregon.net
• Type in the following when asked for the NNTP (newsgroup) host: news.dialoregon.net

You are done! You should be able to open the Netscape program and it will dial in, connect, and you will be able to go to web sites and send and receive email.
