Virtual Domain Registration Instructions
Prerequisites
In order to host your virtual domain with Online Services, you must
have either an existing dial-up or core account. If you do not have a
current account with Online Services, please register for an account before proceding.
Registering Your Domain
Before we can host your domain, you must register your domain name
with a registrar, which allows you to own the domain. The fees
charged by the registrar are separate and in addition to the fees
charged by Online Services to host your domain.
If you have not yet registered your domain name, a popular site for
registering domain names is:

WARNING: DO NOT register your domain with lycos.com. Lycos
will not allow you to change the primary and secondary name servers on
your domain and thus we, nor any other ISP, will be able to host your
domain if you register with Lycos. If you have already registered
with Lycos, you will have to transfer your domain to another registrar
before we can host your domain.
The following information will be needed when you register your domain:

Specifying the two name servers above when you register your domain
will speed up the process of activating your domain.
Virtual Domain Email Addresses
Your virtual domain email addresses are not real mailboxes, but rather
aliases that point to real mailboxes. Mail sent to any of these
addresses will be delivered to the real mailbox they each point to.
For example, if you add the email address "webmaster" to your domain
"mydomain.com", then you must also supply the real email address that
"webmaster@mydomain.com" will be sent to.
Online Services will reserve the following addresses from your domain
for our own use and therefore they will not be available to you:
Your virtual domain will include 10 email addresses. Additional
addresses can be purchased at any time.
Costs
The cost to host your domain is $50/year. This cost is in addition to
your Online Services dial-up or core account fee and will be prorated
to your existing account. Please note that this cost is separate from
the fee charged by the registrar to register your domain.
Activating Your Domain
To activate your domain, please contact Online Services. We will need
to know the name of your domain and the web site where you registered
your domain. In general, it usually takes between 24 - 48 hours
before your domain is fully functional, but could take longer if there
are problems moving your domain to our sytem. Your domain will not be
activated until we have received payment.
