FYI - You are now in the section of the old Blue Mountain Donkey Page articles

Greetings!  I'd like to share my fascination with this gentle creature that has helped shape human history and can stand in line among some of mankind's oldest domesticated creatures. He is a forgotten and unsung hero that has often been misrepresented and misunderstood.

American Mammoth Jackstock is a creation from various Jackstock bloodlines imported from Europe to the USA beginning around the mid 1700's.  Sadly, after the creation of the tractor in the early 1900's, jackstock almost became an extinct breed of equine.  Which is ironic because our nations strength began in agriculture - which was built literally from the backs of  hard working jackstock offspring - the draft mule.   Awareness of Jackstock is on the rise, as the public once again rediscovers their many fine qualities - as saddle mule sires and as a performance animal in their own right.  However, they are still in danger from indiscriminate breeding and crossing with standard donkey blood.  The true jackstock gene pool is very small and in need protection and appropriate stewardship.

Mammoth Jackstock are very versatile and willing workers, despite the rumor of their being stubborn. Whether you are interested in showing, packing, driving, riding or a gentle baby-sitter, their use limited only by your imagination!   Most importantly, jackstock will charm you with their surprising big size enwrapped with wonderful personality and gentle intelligence.

Thanks for stopping by and please enjoy your visit -

Did you know?

Donkeys, unlike horses, can vocalize both on the inhale and exhale of their breath. This helps create that comical "Heeeee-Haaaaw" effect.
